Quality
Initiatives
West
Georgia Health System is currently involved in several quality
initiatives to measure and improve quality for patient care. WGHS
is participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services'
Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration Project, as well as quality
initiatives launched by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation and
the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Although each of these projects is separate, all three focus on
four specific clinical diagnoses: acute heart attacks, congestive
heart failure, community-acquired pneumonia and hip and knee replacement
surgeries.
WGHS
physicians and staff are working diligently to benchmark with
top-performing hospitals across the country to improve the quality
of care we offer our patients. As we implement new processes to
raise the bar with these four diagnoses, we will add new clinical
areas on which to focus our improvement efforts.
