“Walk for Diabetes Wellness” to aid diabetes programs
Coleman Community Health Center and the
American Diabetes Association will host the “Walk for Diabetes
Wellness” on Saturday, September 24. Proceeds from the event
will benefit both organizations, with 80% of the funds staying
in the community to help patients with diabetes at the Coleman
Center.
The event begins with registration at 9:00 a.m. at the Coleman
Center, located at 701 Lincoln Street in LaGrange. The walk will
begin at 10:00 a.m. with a two-mile route and a four-mile route.
Lunch and goodie bags will be provided for walkers.
“This is the eighth year West Georgia Health System has
teamed up with the American Diabetes Association to raise funds
for diabetes research and local programs” said Dee Smith,
co-chair of the event. “Due to the exceptionally high incidence
of diabetes in Troup County, the Coleman Center works to provide
diabetes management programs and treatment options for our residents
who are living with diabetes. This fundraising effort gives us
the opportunity to provide financial support for patients, as
well as assist the American Diabetes Association with research
to find a cure. We are looking forward to a terrific event, and
we invite everyone in the community to come ‘Walk for Wellness’.”
